A CRUSH? REALLY?

The girls are very excited about Valentine's Day.  Both of them are celebrating with parties at school today.  There is no denying they are my kids when it comes to wanting to put their own touch on holidays, parties, etc.  We have entered the stage where gender is becoming a big deal.  No more girly stuff for boys because they won't like it since butterflies and princesses are for girls.  I found these cute Valentine ideas on Family Fun. They have such great ideas and these were easy for the girls to put together.  The owls (for boys) and butterflies (for girls) were packaged with little treat bags.  I altered their list of materials just slightly and love the way these turned out.  The owls are my absolute favorite!!

While the three of us assembled each one of these Valentine's, Rylie and I were all ears for Emily's important conversation.  She informed us a boy in her class had a crush on her and she had a crush on him and that when they are older they will be boyfriend/girlfriend.  Really, in first grade, already they are talking about a crush?  Rylie had a great time singing "Emily & Ryan sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g....." She likes to tease her sister with whatever boy she comes up with.  Now the process of assembling all these owls and butterflies really went pretty quick, it was the decision of which Valentine to give to this friend  and that friend that made this project last.
